FYI, in Colonial days, women who had the money to have a good dress (as opposed to just having their one everyday dress)
DID sit with their knees as far apart as possible! It was their way of showing that they had the wealth to have several yards of fabric for a
good skirt, along with their everyday clothes. (Thank you, Rev War Reenactor Friends!)
