im black, so if i didnt find this racist, then im pretty sure it wasnt meant to be! and trust me, black people are trained to recognize racism in a lot of things. having parents that grew up in southern Jim Crow, i got that a lot!

i took this to be at least some sense of recognition that a lot of blacks who worked in the white house/early government did not receive. maybe the author didnt mean it in the sense that i got it, or im a sucker for a man losing the love of his life, either way i liked the story!
