I know of a couple of men who didn't get bids from the chapter because an active brother blackballed them. These men were quality guys who were active in other organizations.

Compared to the service club mentality prevalent at most APO chapters, this is actually a very good thing and there is nothing at all disgraceful about acting like a traditional social fraternity, because that is what we are, a FRATERNITY!!!. Personally, I wish I saw more of this in APO in general.
