GREAT idea!
First of all, I just want to say that I absolutely L-O-V-E recruitment, it's my favorite time of the year, maybe with the exception of Orientation week.
I was on the rush committee for two years, and this would have been a great outlet for some b******g and sympathy. Shout out to all brothers and sisters (and disaffiliated Rho Chis/counselors/Rho Gams, Pi Chis etc) working hard on recruitment!
There is a quote from one of the most amazing movies ever, and one of my personal faves since 3rd grade... Cool Runnings (obviously). Thinking about this reminded me that often, recruitment officers are "unsung heroes," our brothers and sisters can complain about recruitment all they want, sometimes forgetting that their friends are really working hard on it to make it PERFECT.
Anywho, the scene is where the team is picking positions in the sled, and Sanka wants to be the driver. Coach Irv declares that Derice is the driver, and sums it up like this:
"You see Sanka, the driver has to work harder than anyone. He's the first to show up, and the last to leave. When his buddies are all out drinking beer, he's up in his room studying pictures of turns. You see, a driver must remain focused one hundred percent at all times. Not only is he responsible for knowing every inch of every course he races, he's also responsible for the lives of the other men in the sled. Now do you want that responsibility?"
Bobsled drivers have a lot more in common with recruitment committee members than you would think!
