I belong to another message board community where the admin has it set up that you can't edit/delete your post two hours after posting it. His reasoning is that it encourages people to put some thought into what they post, instead of spouting off crap that they'll just regret writing later. It also preserves the integrity of message board.
He makes exceptions and will remove posts, especially if you ask him nicely, but all in all, I like that policy.
