Well, my opinion of stupid may not be the same as someoneelses. In fact, the 'stupid reason' may be used in order not to hurt the applicant's feelings.
If I believed the reason was stupid and truly believed that the applicant was worthy, I would help them get their stuff ssssooooo tight that there would be no 'excuse'. However, if I knew the real deal, I would ask them to suck it up and move on.
Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES would I interfere in the selection process. My org is too precious to me to try to bend the rules and taint the process. That is why I don't see why mothers start acting silly when their daughters are rejected. I see why some applicants don't tell their family until they have succesfully completed the process!
