My mom told me that she read a story about a petite, yet slightly chubby girl being rejected for a job because of her height and weight. I think the position was PR-related. Even normal people, not from mainland China are criticized for their looks. My mom is constantly bugging me to get rid of some freckling on my face (acne scars from when I was a teen)! If it doesn't bother me, why should she care? And my mom isn't even from mainland China.
