Leadership
I think as a whole Black America is headed in the right direction.
More of us are attending colleges and universities, (we are at least first or even second generation college educated) but I still feel there are not enough of us pursuing higher education. Looking at statics, we are still having trouble getting out of highschool, but I believe that as time goes on the idea of going to college will just be second nature. As far as leaders...there are many black leaders within all communities (Chruch, Schools etc.), but on a national level...no there are not enough. The media makes it seem as if Jesse Jackson or worse...Al Sharpton
are the leaders for blacks, but I do not agree. I think Al Sharpton meant well in the beginning, but he has been clouded in controversy for a very long time now, and I believe he looks out for self...not for his people. But the one issue that I find that bothers me the most is, alot of us do not keep up with what is going on in the world. Like we have no opinion or something. In my family we read newspapers everyday and the news was always on TV at 6pm etc. But of lot of us can not even talk about real-world news, because we do not bother to try and find out what is going on. And this goes for those of us who are college educated as well.
