A Re-Cap
Okay-so, it wasn't necessarily because I could "afford" to go because thankfully I am an Alumnae Chapter Officer-so, a great amount of it was paid for-yay!!!
1.) Dana Ivey and Toria Tolley (both of whom I got pictures with) were at Convention...as, well as Kimberly Kennedy.
2.) Phi Mu Bloom was introduced as a new program that acts the same way as Facebook or MySpace-except it's only for Phi Mus to communicate with one another...I'm assuming other NPCs will (if they haven't already begun) have sites like this for their orgs, as well...
3.) The new GIN system was shown to us. It's a company started by a Phi Mu, a Zeta Tau Alpha and an SAE (all from University of Florida-from what I understand) who wanted to help other Greek orgs. out by making a cleaner looking webpage for them....It's a great tool and collegiate chapters will not have to pay for this service since their technology fee will pay it for them, however, Alumnae Chapters will need to pay about $196. a year (which is totally worth it)...It's awesome to see Greeks helping other Greeks!
4.) We learned that the #2 badge (of Mary, Mary or Martha) was bought on Ebay by Shelley McCarty and it is now in the hands of Headquarters-yay! Also, as far as buying badges on Ebay go-please do not bid against "antiquephimu" because that is Shelley McCarty and she buys them to return to headquarters.
5.) We initiated a few women to include the grandmother of a Phi Mu daughter and Phi Mu grand-daughter from other universities...According to the family this grandmother was a "Phi" back in the day but, eventually ran off to marry her sweetheart and she never finished college....so, it was really sweet!
6.) We found out we are going to Phoenix, Arizona for our 51st Convention in 2010!!! Though I could care less about going to Arizona, this hotel has 8 pools and waterslides throughout the place. It will def. be worth going to!
Anymore questions-just ask!!!
