I had to memorize poems throughout college (I was an English major), and I always struggled at the end since I went over that part the least. I discovered that if I started with the last line, and added a new line (the previous one) each day, by the time I got to the beginning of the poem, it was simple. So, for instance, I would've learned the Star Spangled Banner:

Day one: Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave. O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Day two: And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave...

and so on

That is genius. Why didn't I know this when I was pledging?
