1. Did you decide upon your organization of choice PRIOR to visiting GC? Yes, I decided which organization I was interested in long before I knew what greekchat was.
2. Would you let the views or beliefs of one sway your interest to another organization? Certainly not! If I were that easily swayed, I would have already been swayed by now. Since I am not, I am going on three years strong in pursuit.
3. Would you let the tactics of another (member or non-member) sway your decision to become a member of an organization you really had no interest in? No way! I have sincerely taken heed to the advice that joining a BGLO is a LIFETIME committment. That is certainly not something I would agree to nonchalantly. I could not work for another organization knowing that it was not truly what was in my heart.
4. Do you think that you would be offended if someone came to you so that you could become a member of their organization when you have clearly decided that you want to become a member of another organization? No, I would not be offended. Only because, I would like to believe that I am a well rounded individual. I would like to think that I would be considered an excellent candidate for any organization. Although I may be a good candidate, that does not mean that it is what I want or that we actually fit together. However, I would like to think that having the basics ( scholarship, service, etc.) would make others interested in me. I have actually had this done to me before. A member of another sorority was constantly inviting me to events, teas, info sessions, etc. Eventually, I just told her that I was not interested in sororities at all. We still remained cool though.
5. What does the notion that someone would try to deliberately sway your intent say about that person? Now the idea that someone would purposely try to sway you would say to me that they are desperate for membership. It also says to me that they don't have that much respect for their organization. Why would you want someone in your organization who did not really want to be there? Who wants to be chosen by default?
6. Would you find fault with the organization as a whole or only the person? I would only find fault if the member continued to pursue me after I have made it clear that I was not interested. If so, I would only be upset with the person "recruiting" me.
7. What does that say, if anything about the person who tries to get you to follow her into her organization when that isn't really what you want to do? My answer is about the same as my answer to number five. But more importantly, it says that she does not respect my wishes if she continues to pressure me.
8. Ultimately, what kind of person would you be to succumb and follow when you know that isn't what you want to do? I would have to someone who isn't very sure of herself or her beliefs.
9. Could you look yourself in the mirror? Is this a trick question? If I were to be swayed, No. I would not be able to look myself in the mirror ( in any fashion).
10. What does that say (if it says anything) about your integrity? If I were swayed to do something that I did not truly agree with or believe in, I'm gonna agree with my sisterfriend, I would have a lot of growing up to do.
