Well, I guess I will start.
1. Did you decide upon your organization of choice PRIOR to visiting GC?
I decided that I wanted to be apart of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc way before joining GC. I did not found out about
GC until after doing some research.
2. Would you let the views or beliefs of one sway your interest to another organization?
No, I would not.
3. Would you let the tactics of another (member or non-member) sway your decision to become a member of an organization you really had no interest in?
No, one person doesn't make an organization whether it be a greek sorority or a community service group. I looked at the organization as a whole.
4. Do you think that you would be offended if someone came to you so that you could become a member of their organization when you have clearly decided that you want to become a member of another organization?
Yes, and I have seen it done. You don't want to disrespect anyone in another sorority, but when they clearly want to diminish your chances in joining the organization of your choice, then you need to separate yourself from that individual.
5. What does the notion that someone would try to deliberately sway your intent say about that person?
Well, it says that person doesn't not respect you and you have to make it very clear that you are not interest. Or they are desperate for members.
6. Would you find fault with the organization as a whole or only the person?
Only that person, unless each member is doing the same thing.
7. What does that say, if anything about the person who tries to get you to follow her into her organization when that isn't really what you want to do?
Maybe the other organization sees something in me that is worth while. If an individual has that charisma and personality about her, most likely she would catch the eye of more than one organization.
8. Ultimately, what kind of person would you be to succumb and follow when you know that isn't what you want to do?
Well, that would mean I have not found why I want to join Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. It would mean I have not found the difference between this sorority and the other three. I
9. Could you look yourself in the mirror?
I don't know.
10. What does that say (if it says anything) about your integrity?
Well, it says that maybe this sorority was not for me. I've changed direction many times in my life (such as first majoring in Computer Science and then changing my major to Psychology and graduating with a Psychology degree and now I am in Nursing School), but don't regret any of it. Some people in this world are just lost and are just finding their way and I don't think that is wrong. Now if someone changes their mind on one sorority to go to another because their second choice has more parties or their second choice gets all the men, then that person needs to seriously reexamine their life.
Before I sign off, I want to clarify something: I want to become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and I have been pursuing it since my sophomore year of college.
I just have to be patient because grad is a whole different story!
