Top Dog Names: Ranked in order!
Honeychile, I'm a little bit disappointed in you. WVU alpha phi asked about a "cute Southern name." I though you'd be able to supply a few. (Shoot, how 'bout "honeychile"? )

My suggestions:

Bonnie (a black lab could be Bonnie Blue)
Scarlett (may be a bit trite, though)
Mellie
Scout (her "formal" name could be Jean Louise)
Eugenia
Eudora
Flannery
Sugar (or Shug)
Magnolia (call her Maggie for short, and get double points for the Tennessee Williams reference)
Tallulah
Beulah
Annabell
Liddie
Libba
Delta
Suellen
Sidie
Raney

If you want a Steel Magnolia's reference, Truvy, Clairee, Ouiser, M'Lynn or Annelle are all good choices.

If you really want to push the envelope, you could name her Varina. (BTW, it's pronounced Va-REE-na )

Can you tell I like names with a literary or historical connection?

I reckon I'll think of more later on.
