In Kansas, homeschool students who want to receive a valid state accredited high school diploma must submit their documentation/records to the Kansas State Department of Education. So you could try contacting either the student's local state department of education for either the records or for the name of the parent who taught the student.

I only know this because one of my good friends were home schooled and she wanted a state accredited high school diploma (meaning that she met the same requirements as any other student taught by the state) as opposed to a more generic one that would have been issued by her dad (meaning that she just learned what he felt was a good curriculm).
