I think that used to be the case back in the day, but I think the 1980s was probably the last time you could really say that. Now there's country acts like Keith Urban, Shania Twain, etc., etc., that are much more "Hollywood" and into the celebrity scene. Of course, you might question whether some of these singers are really "country" or actually pop with a nominal country facade.
