Given that most of the research currently out there has repeatedly confirmed that between 10-15% of all births are the result of "non-paternity" - i.e., the man who is believed to be the father is actually not - this isn't that surprising.
For a very interesting examination of human sexuality, I suggest reading Sperm Wars: The Science of Sex by Robin Baker Ph.D.
Also Why is Sex Fun? The Evolution of Human Sexuality by Jared Diamond looks interesting. I've only read the first 2 chapters, but it was a pretty good start.
