For this reason, a large number of internet sites are going to fee based business models. For example Yahoo Geocities is charging for FTP access, a popular "tech" site, slashdot.org, is charging users for ad-free viewing of their site, and the list goes on. Expect to see many popular sites going to this type of business model to keep their heads above the water.
I'm waiting for Blackplanet to go completely fee-based. With the amount of advertising that is plastered all over the site, I REALLY wonder how strapped for cash the owners (
