That's odd considering he's already been on MTV as the boyfriend of music wannabe Cheyanne Kimball
From what I've heard about that: in highschool he was a drummer in a band in the Dallas area and their manager and Cheyenne's were one and the same. She was just starting to break into the biz, anyway, they asked him to be in a video (I guess because of his looks) and they became friends. MTV asked him to appear in her show and they kind of made it look like they "had a thing" but they didn't, they were just casual friends. Typical of reality TV - making something look like something it isn't.

He had been a drummer for years and didn't start singing until college. This is what's new for him, and he is surprisingly good at it, at least that's what the judges thought when they let him through.

You find if horrible that he tried out? That's kind of strong. Yes, he tried out, and God forgive him, he actually made the cut! What a terrible person

Isn't American Idol supposed to be about newbies trying out to see if they can make it? I find it more horrible (jk-too strong) that this year's season is full of people who have already given it a shot as professional singers, been rejected (dropped from their labels or shown the door by producers), and now are trying to repackage themselves as wide eyed naifs trying to break into the music business. American Idol shouldn't be about re-treads trying to get another shot at stardom. There is a sense of desperation seeping out of some of the contestants that is pungent, but I guess I'd feel the same way if I felt my life and future happiness depended upon my being able to make it as a performer. There- that's my rant!

As I said before, he is having a good time and will ride the wave as long as it lasts, but he has contingency plans if he doesn't become the American Idol of 2008. Is that so horrible??
