Hmmm . . . this one is actually kind of a toughie. Those contemplating suicide and especially those seriously planning an attempt have to be all but devoid of peace, and any number of things can be a "trigger" to put things in perspective and halt the ideations. Imagining how hurt your friends/family would be, hearing an ice cream truck go by and remembering better times, stumbling upon a 10 year old eviction letter and interpreting it as a sign that "this too shall pass", etc. So, in that context anything is possible and I think those things probably happen quite a bit.
Now granted, this doesn't mean that her many television, radio and magazine interviews can't still be sensationalized excuses for publicity, pity and a paycheck - but I'm just a little iffy on the need to justify the suicide thing in general. Probably just that psych & service as a peer counselor from undergrad talking!
