At the very first post. Since you did not clarify that it was a Greeks only thread, you left yourself open for interpretation at the poster's will
AKA2D:
BTW...
Welcome back, we haven't seen you around here in a few minutes. I'm glad you found something you wanted to "discuss"...
RM:
Thank you. I have been posting from time to time, it's just few have been responding. But thanx nonetheless.
AKA2D:
What I did do is ask how can one who is a MEMBER of ABC say they don't want to be ABC anymore. THAT'S WHAT I DID.
Therefore, If you are not a member, you cannot answer.
And contrary to what you said, MEMBERS of organizations have more similarities than differences as someone said. Therefore, MEMBERS can question another MEMBER'S rationale. We are in the SAME boat basically, so yes, WE CAN QUESTION.
RM:
As Unicron would say, "Your bargaining posture is highly dubious, but very well" Just keep in mind that Greeks and non-Greeks are people first and therefore in the SAME boat being that they all have spirits, souls, and opinions.
AKA2D:
If a Delta goes to their forum asks why doesn't their soror not want to attend sorority meeting, WHY IN THE HECK should I go over there and answer? (Just using it as an example)
RM:
Hey, different strokes for different folks. As long as they (or any GLO) know that they are in a public forum, there are only so many safeguards that can be put into play to keep outsiders from answering. That is an inherent risk you take when posting on GC.
2D:
Another example...If I have sorority meeting at abc place and it starts at 5 (which I do...lol) and a non-member rolls up to the place at 5, ummmmmm someone is out of order. There aren't any disclaimers or signs that says that this is an AKA meeting. But anyone NOT a member or member of the chapter cannot attend
IT'S THE SAME SCRIPT... DIFFERNT CAST. One does not have to ALL THE TIME say, this is for one or this is not for one to respond. One should know where to tread and not tread.
RM
My question to you would be: How the heck did the nonmember find out about the meeting if it was to be private to begin with?
It seems to me that with both the examples you gave that some BGLOers don't practice what they preach. Namely, DISCRETION!
2D:
Now, when I or if I ask, why or why not a NON-MEMBER thinks like this or that, then you may answer, otherwise....poof be gone!
Like I said before, since folks can't read between lines, I'll have to SPECIFY who can and CANNOT post. If you post and it specifically says who can't, then your post is DELETED!
RM:
That was NOT the case here, at least not initially. And still, it begs the question: Since Greeks here have not EXPERIENCED denouncement from their GLO, just as non-Greeks have not EXPERIENCED a GLO ritual initiation, what makes a Greek any more qualified to speak on a subject s/he has not experienced any more that a non-Greek? Let's be honest, a ritual initiation should not be used for a be-all, end-all tool for discussions. I think in this case, it is just a weak excuse to shove their letters in non-Greeks' face.
2D:
If I've already made it clear when the chit started, then why must those who are not members continue to post? Sorors and other greeks you all can continue to post, but as far as I'm concerned, it's.....
RM:
2D, if you are really that concerned about what non-Greeks can or cannot post to, you might want to see if there can be a sub-forum in this website that only members can post to certain topics. Otherwise, I guarantee you that a lot of insightful Greek-related threads will be sidetracked into flame wars b/t non-Greeks and Greeks. I already see a LOT of that in this forum and is just now saying something about it. But pulling letters (as in the term "pulling rank") on non-Greeks is not the answer, as you can see.
Skee ya'll!
