Is it just me, or does anyone else think that music videos killed good music?

For the most part I have to agree, there are always exceptions. Now it seems like it's all about the production or the physical appearance of the performers.
Studio sound enhancement was a major culprit as well. When the recording sounds great and yet the live peformance stinks, you know the "talent" is questionable to say the least.
One thing I miss about the pre-CD days is the artwork on the album covers.
