Yup. Nobody should go through Recruitment hoping to be a grade exception. There are usually so many stellar PNM's who made their grades and then a whole bunch more who just missed. Unless someone has an amazing resume, an incredible personality and a whole bunch of in house friends pulling/vouching for her, it's probably not going to happen.

This is so true it needs to be quoted and repeated:
Grade exceptions are VERY RARE. Typically, if a chapter on my campus took a girl who was below their minimum GPA it usually was because there were extenuating circumstances that explained why the girl didn't have grades, she had friends in the chapter, and she had stellar extracurricular activities and community service to make up for her lack of GPA.
For example, a chapter on my campus took a girl who was below their minimum GPA, but she had friends in that chapter who knew that she was in a car accident last semester that caused her to miss a ton of classes and hurt her GPA. So they knew that before the car accident she had been on Dean's List. Also, she had volunteered in a medical clinic in South America and was a KSU Ambassador. So she wasn't really a "risk" because the chapter knew that she had the potential to get good grades and had other things going for her that made her a good candidate.
