Another friend of mine (who happens to teach those with special needs) has had broken fingers, black eyes, a broken arm, and bites and cuts so deep she had to go to the ER. All this and she went back into her classroom and kept teaching, even when she was offered a transfer.
All this is probably one of the reasons I currently teach in private school!

I have to ask this question..what is the difference between kids in public school and private school as far as behavior?
I taught in public school a few years back and my students were very rarely problems...I accredit most of that success due to having a very close rapport with thier parents and an open door policy for them to drop in when needed.
I just still simply believe that kids and what they do in the school system is based on what kind of interaction and relationship the schools themselves have with families of thier students...
