The way they're used is what differentiates them.
We use croakies to hold onto expensive sunglasses when we're out sailing or fishing in the Gulf/Atlantic or even at the pond at home. Even then, outdoorsy stuff is very Southern preppy...look at the brands..Carhart, Patagonia, North Face, Kavu, etc, etc.
