Hubby asked you quite nicely to please show him the right way to carry Babyperson. Not only did you get an attitude you then said and I quote, "Ya'll need to stop having all these kids and not taking care of them." Hubby asked for an apology and you refused saying that you know that you were right. I then asked the clerk at reception who you were and who your supervisor was because I needed to have a word with her. I let her know that even though we are receiving WIC, we did not deserve to be spoken to in the manner that you talked to us. I was a single parent once upon a time and I remember how hurtful social workers and the like talked to me and my now oldest son. This is why people are hesitant to apply for social services even when they are eligible for them. People like you are the reason why I went into social work: to show people that we are all not judgmental jerks like you and that there ARE some really nice people who will go the extra mile to help them. You really need to be glad that I wasn't 100% today or else Duval County Health Department and the Department of Health and Human Services would have heard an earful from me.

Dear 9dstpm,
I feel ya! I went through a similar experience at WIC and never went back. Mind you, I was 24 years old, in college, worked part-time, and that was my only child (and still is). I also became a social worker because I saw how others got treated and didn't like it at all.
