Actually a Black and tan is made with Bass ale, and don't order them in Ireland you get dirty looks from the barmen.

What you're talking about is a half and half over there.
Anyhow, seeing as how we got married in Ireland (Dundalk - where they brew Harp!) my husband and I look forward to St. Patrick's day, but it's amateur night mostly, so this year we're (well really I'm - but he talks while I cook, so we works) making an Irish dinner and having some friends over. We've got vegetable soup (the Irish made the best veggie soup ever, so I got a couple of cookbooks), brown bread, and steak and Guinness pie.
Both the man and I like our Murphy's much better than Guinness though.
