I do these Gold Parties. I have a jeweler come with me who helps me check the gold items. We have methods we use to see what karat the item is (i.e., Acid Test, Gold Tester, and by the inscription). After we determine the karat of the item we place it into a pile until all items are seperated by karat. Then we weigh each karat pile (i.e., 10K, 14K, 18K, etc.). Gold is weighed by grams, we then multiply the gram weight times the price we pay per gram, which is the highest it has ever been so now is a good time to sell. We write up on a receipt what we bought and paid you and then give you a copy. We also accept silver!
