I think Kate pretended she had Aaron on the island, and he was hers, that's why her mother thought it was really her grandson.

If you go with the theory that Kate will claim she had Aaron on the island then you have to believe a) time is all wonky since they've only been there "100 days" or b) they're not getting off the island any time remotely soon.
