Ok, this isn't exactly a quote, but it's something I think is perfect for this thread. This short poem made up the final words of a toast (speech) given by Lindsey Barbee, specifically the last toast at the closing banquet of the 1913 Convention. The toast was called: "The Girl of the Future - This Ideal Gamma Phi"

"I will be true--for there are those who trust me,
I will be pure--for there are those who care,
I will be strong,--for there is much to suffer,
I will be brave--for there is much to dare,
I will be friend of all--the foe, the friendless,
I will be giving--and forget the gift,
I will be humble--for I know my weakness,
I will look up, and love and laugh and lift!”
