So this happened at my school last night... on my floor, they arrested my neighbors and the boys across the hall. It was well-known that they all were dealers, and I think one of them sold to an undercover cop. A couple of fraternity boys that I know were arrested- one was the ringleader, and the other was his pledge brother and roommate who turned himself in after his brother was arrested. They all face serious charges, and will probably serve time. There was a lot of illegal substances moving through their hands... the sad thing is that they're all under 21, and most them got mixed up in the wrong scene. Several are freshmen.
What do you think about the war on drugs? Is it winnable? What do you feel is appropriate punishment?

Drugs...........hmmm well IMHO,
1. In order to stop the distribution of drugs, our time must be focused on the SUPPLIERS, and not the small time pushers. After all, planes and ships loads of drugs are brough into this country everyday by these types of people. I believe if you cut the supply source, you can really make a dent in the drug game.
2. As it stands right now, it is cheaper to purchase a nickel bag marijuana (for $5) or meth or herion than it is to buy a package or carton of cigarettes.(packages = $5 and up, carton = $20 and up). If I am drug user, which do you think I am going for to get the most bang for my buck?
3. We need to have more substance abuse treatment, instead of jails. I am a "proactive" person and our country really needs to treat addiction for what it is - A DISEASE! A week in detox just will not "cure" someone's addiction. Most drug users need a serious regime of theraphy.
I could go on and on about this, but I have to get back to work...........
