^^^My experience was similar to yours Benzgirl! I was #9 of my HS class and had TONS of extracurriculars. I applied to several schools that I pretty much equally liked, got accepted to them, and waited to see what they offered me in scholarships.
I got into quite a few schools and I'll admit that none of them were totally prestigious, just schools I'd visited and liked:
*San Diego State
*UCSD
*Kent State
*Miami (OH)
*Tiffin (OH)
*CSU-LB
In the end, KSU came through with 4 years of tuition and room and board. It was nothing close to any of the others. So it was kind of a no-brainer.
