Yes, the season finale dealt with Jack's learning about someone's death. He goes to the funeral/visitation only to find that no one else attended. We still don't know who was in the coffin (although we can deduce that Kate is not).

I don't think Jack's dad = Jacob. I think the island has a way of using people who have died to pass along messages to those who are still living (Yemi, for example). I think somehow Christian is being used as a messenger of some kind. I also think that's how/why we can still see Charlie (even though he isn't on the island). And, I also think that's why Ben specified that, if Jack called Naomi's boat, "every
living person on the island would be killed."
