I understand completely where you are coming from, a lot of people feel the same way. But I always thought it was superstitious to say that if I told somebody that my mother is dead, then I might "jinx" her and she'll die. I believe that God will take her when/where he choses not because of something I said. And fortunately, I have stopped looking at death as something bad that happens to people, but that's a whole other post...But like I said, a lot of people feel the same way you do.
