Originally posted by lovelyivy84 You know what, last season we found out that Mike from RW NY was raised in a home where he was taught that black people were inferior and people were ALL OVER that boy about him and his beliefs. It was no excuse that he had been taught that blacks were inferior, he should know better as a rational adult.
Now I am not one to equate sexuality and race, but I think that people are being really hypocritical here (not you kiml22, but people on this board in general).
Standing by what you were taught means nothing if you were taught to be intolerant and to hate. And for me, that means hating anybody, not just because of color, but because of sexuality, religion or whatever else makes us different as human beings. You can't say that his beliefs are ok because that's what he was taught JUST because this time he happens to be htaing gays and not another race. Hate is hate and intolerance is intolerance.

i don't think that Theo is being intolerant. i think he is just sticking to his convictions. mike from the real world, in my opinion, wasn't being intolerable either. he was miseducated and was stating what the beliefs of his father.
i don't believe theo hates chris, he just can't get with his lifestyle. what i actually admire about theo is that he has admitted to not accepting homosexuality but is not letting the fact that chris is gay interfere with his friendship with him. theo said that he likes chris, but not homosexuality and i can understand that.
and, i think chris is almost waiting for theo to "act up" so he can dig in his isht. i think he wants theo to say something or act out of aggression and intolerance for the homosexual lifestyle so that he can have the opportunity to plex.
