MaMa - LOL! don't feel bad for not knowing sorority pants... I am a "young alum" (late 20's) and have worked in the Greek system at my school for the last few years, and so would not have known about this fashion phenomenon either if not for that. (not that I don't know what black bootcut pants are! I have a couple pair myself, but I had never heard the term before registering at GreekChat)
The "sorority pants" that everyone is referring to are the synthetic (usually a rayon or other stretchy fabric blend) black pants, which are usually low-waisted, with a flat front and maybe (but not always) a back pocket. They are fitted through the waist, hips and thighs, and flare slightly at the ankle ("boot-cut", for the old school among us). They usually zip up, and have a very slimming look (hence the popularity).
These pants are EVERYWHERE. Any store, any designer... they flatter almost any body type, especially if you are very slim, or if you have a good "booty"... the only exception is if you have a pooch (ladies, you know what I mean) and you wear a short shirt which does not cover said pooch.
MaMa - I guarantee you have seen these pants and just didn't recognize them as "sorority pants". That's what everyone is referring to!
