I work in Social Services, so it's RARE that we get laid off, but it could happen. The problem is that VA spent a lot of money when it had surplus funds due to the housing market, but since that's taken a nosedive, the State has had to readjust some things.

and stop paying people who walk in off the street a better salary than people who have been here for years and are already trained. THAT IS the only reason why people keep LEAVING to go to other counties to do the same thing.
