have to put in a personal vote for Carlie, since that's my name...I even spell it the same way (thanks Mom and Dad)!! but it's actually short for Carlisle, an old family name. It's been a combination blessing and curse. I get lots of comments on how pretty it is, but when I was in third grade I HATED it. I have two sisters named Courtney and Amanda, but before my parents decided to name the youngest after my father's mother (which was Adeline, but who names their kid that anymore, so they went with Amanda), they were going to name her Chloe.
I don't ever plan on having kids, but if I did I'd go searching for an old family name. Jewish people don't ever name their kids after someone who's still alive, as my grandparents are, but if they passed away before my child was born it would be named George after my grandfather or Shana, after my grandma Shirley (Shana is also Yiddish for "pretty.")
My cats are going to be named Beezus and Ramona.
