I've never actually called out sick when I am sick - if I'm contagious or would be disruptive to co-workers (sniffling, sneezing) then I just work from home.
But, my fiance and I occasionally call out sick together to spend the day downtown, going to a movie, or just hanging out at home. Its nice to have those little "us" days.
