I was a recruitment adviser at a school that did bidmatching by hand, so lemme tell ya, I saw it ALL. And it is so true that the ones who thought so highly of themselves were very often the ones who barely made the quota list during FR. I'd sit in MS with the chapter the following year and watch these squeakers come down so hard on whether certain PNMs were worthy of membership. There I was, thinking all the while, oh no you DIDNNT.

But maybe, deep down, they were just terribly insecure.
