All women have bad hair days..., but Oprah was on point with that one.
Maybe someone else who wears hats to church would be better suited to answer this, but from what I observe, the hats aren't necessarily a coverup on a bad hair day. It's more of the complementing finishing touch on a beautiful suit, to-die-for shoes, and just being on-point when dressing. It is a great look for some women, but hats aren't my thing. Hell, I have a big head. But I swear hats really more of a competiton to see who has the best and/or most unique hat that
coordinates with the outfit.
