I've asked my husband what he (and his friends - Mostly Colombian and Salvadorian) prefers, and he will tolerate Latino, Hispanic, Spanish, or for him personally -
Jarocho (it's what he really prefers, but it can't be applied very widely). Really, anything but Chicano, he does not like the term Chicano.
