As a father and husband, I didn't think that was strange at all. I'd probably call for everyone before it was over, but I'd call for my wife first.

Sweeps month is over, and most networks show re-runs during December. Under normal circumstances, the next episode would probably be aired in January -- they use the second-half of these two episode cliff-hangers to hook people back in after the holidays. But with the strike, they may wait longer so as not to show one new episode followed by re-runs.

And my guess is that:
Ms. McClusky will realize that had she still been in the house, probably near Ina, she too would have been killed. Lynette essentially saved her by getting her away.
