Cell phones were still uncommon when I was in high school. Pagers/Beepers were what the cool kids carried. Unfortunately, Virginia Beach schools considered them to be
drug paraphanalia. Having one on campus was grounds for immediate expulsion. Even during football games, etc, any
adult caught with a pager would be required to leave it in their car. The only way they could keep it on them is if they proved they were a doctor.
