It depends on why you were Socialist or Democrat in the first place.
It could be that you just changed your mind about a certain topic or changed how you look at your social world, in general.
But it is certainly humorous when people act like something is the devil and then suddenly it is not just because they've had some conversations or done some research. Instead of just admitting you don't know everydamnthing there is to know and couldn't cast judgment in the first place.
Learning and positive change are great but folks shouldn't act surprised or attacked when others call them out on how they used to be.
