#1 Foil is the way to go
#2 I have dark, dark brown hair with caramel highlights but are about to move to a new reddish color this month. Do something that you can see, I hate spending money on color that you can only see on the beach in direct sunlight!
#3 I have short hair that requies every 3-4 week trim so I keep mine updated often, I don't think it's a pain, I love going to the Salon.
