I get the same feeling.

According to this post Susie was completely OK with the outcome because she wouldn't feel satisfied with a "second choice" sorority and it was the mom who couldn't stop wondering what went wrong.

Auburn is a huge school and like many other huge schools that have several hundred if not a few THOUSAND pnms, many are the "complete package" with good grades, beautiful recruitment photos, and a resume full of extra-curricular activities. There are just so many girls like that it's hard to narrow the field from the chapter's POV.
