I saw a map a while back (I've been trying to find it on line) showing the various areas in the Bay Area and which areas were on "solid" ground (rock?) and those that were not. As I recall, my home is in an area that is on solid ground. Just not sure if it is rock or not. This is why I kind of freaked yesterday. I haven't heard/felt anything as intense since 1989 so this one really got my adrenalin going.

And I so hear you about getting out of downtown. I was at work during the '89 quake and it took me almost four hours just to get across half of San Francisco.
Wow, that's nuts. I was in school @ Grambling (Louisiana) when that one hit. I'll see if I can find that type of map cause Im interested too. I have seen maps of the original shoreline of San Fran. My building is on landfill
