There may be a candidate that actually makes sense, but I haven't seen anything to make me think it's this one.
Many if not most of the "controversial" things he advocates (abolishing various federal agencies, return to the gold standard, etc.) deal with things that fall under the aegis of Congress, not the President, so unless he can get a majority of Representatives and Senators to agree with him, something he hasn't achieved while in Congress, he'd be quite ineffective as President.
