You are not the only who has bad luck when it comes to roommates. My freshman year, I lived with a girl who came from the back woods of North Florida. She was a complete psycho. Her boyfriend liked to walk around our campus dressed up as a gorilla asking people if they had any bananas for him. That was an interesting year. Luckily, my suitemates were sane.
Last year, I lived with two people who I was good friends with. I am still really good friends with them. But, the fourth one was a psycho-b*tch. Whenever she got mad, she'd start throwing stuff. I'd hide in my room so I wouldn't be in the line of fire.
This year, I moved in with two of my friends from back home. One of them I'm still good friends with and we get along great. The other went psycho after her boyfriend of two years broke up with her.
Sigh.
Honestly, the best thing to do is to pretend like they're not even there. I would always try to talk to my roommates and work out any issues. When they're normal, it works. But, when you have a weird roommate it sometimes doesn't work out well. So, I did what Kevlar does...I limit my conversations to 5 words or less per day. Just a "hello" and "goodbye" would suffice.
