Look, I don't know what exactly you are looking for but it's quite obvious that you are not going to find it here. The bottom line is...YOU DON'T HAVE A SAY ON HOW AN ORGANIZATION DETERMINES WHO IT WILL ACCEPT FOR MEMBERSHIP. Hazing, and I mean the hazing that you consider okay, may be considered by that org as against the rules, so you and the members of w/e org allows you to get that far are putting themselves at an extreme risk if so. I know too many chapters that are off the yard because of foolishness. Honestly, its not worth it.
I had similar thoughts like what you are having a few years ago before I became an Alpha. Being or becoming Greek is not the end all be all. Life goes on if you are not Greek. I've seen plenty of people change their mind on whether or not to become Greek.
Take the advice that people have given you freely and apply it. You really sound like you would change your mind if an intake selection and/or process doesn't meet your standards. Trust me, NO organization wants a person like that in their organization.

to add on to what Animate said...
people focus so much on the process itself and not the after...your pledging doesn't start UNTIL you have earned your letters, black white green purple or whatever color you are....too many people focus on what they need to do to get thier letters...guess what you can do everything to the letter and STILL never earn them...there are too many factors on what will get you thru to become "frat" or "soror"....focus on life AFTER whatever process you THINK you are going to go thru and it will make life easier DURING.
